PHOTOGRAPHER BIOGRAPHY: Dave Martin (1923-2014). Was a leading pioneer in the physique photography movement. He was a self-taught photographer, who, after meeting Lon Hanagan (Lon of NY), became inspired to take his photography on a similar path, opening his San Francisco studio in 1952. Martin's physique photographs were published in gay homophile publications as well as men's muscle magazines of the period. His career spanned three decades, and his works are considered by many be among the finest nude male photographers of the era.
MODEL BIOGRAPHY: Zaro Rossi (1934-2005). Was a popular male physique nude model who was active in the 1950's. After serving in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, he returned home to California where he took up bodybuilding. He eventually caught the eye of several male physique photographers including Dave Martin and George Quaintance. His perfectly proportioned physique and smoldering good looks, quickly made him a fan favorite.
