PUBLICATION NOTES REGARDING TOM COMICS: Tom of Finland (Touko Valio Laaksonen) started distributing his work on his own in Helsinki (most of these are identified as such and in fanzine format). Then he teamed up with a regional European publisher D.F.T. (Denmark) in 1968. In 1971 he continued with Coq Publishing (Denmark) and Revolt Press (Sweden). In 1972 Tom entered into an agreement with for a small run of titles by Studio Bookshop & Gallery, Hudson Street NYC. These were only distributed by the bookshore at their NYC location and through mail order. In 1979 he finally created the Tom of Finland Company where he began to reprint his earlier material, including his first nationally distributed series release The Best Of Tom (Los Angeles).
