Holmes was a pioneer in mail order marketing and grew his small basement based operation into a gay entertainment juggernaut. He started selling photos of local models out of his small basement apartment in the Bay area and quickly expanded to magazines, lithographs, clothing, films, videos and much more. The Studio would grow to become the largest producers of gay content in the United States. Aside from his business accomplishments Holmes was also a prominent leader in the LGBTQ community.
