DETAILS: Very hard to find copy of Nymphet Vol 1 #3, Utopia Publishing Company / Golden State News, 1968, Los Angeles. Nymphet was an attempt by GSN to compete with their crosstown rival Parliament's wildly successful Beatnik porn magazine series Jaybird. In order to differentiate itself from Jaybird, GSN had Utopia produce a more salacious version featuring the top female models of the time in provocative poses that Jaybird would never show. They also infused it with strong psychedelic era art influences throughout. The combination of top models, salacious poses and mind bending nude photography quickly made the title a huge success with demand surpassing those of Jaybird. The only problem was that because of the more sexual and psychotropic nature of the title, fewer retailers were willing to carry it in fear that authorities would see it as promoting the use of hallucinogenic drugs. Hence it only had limited distribution in selected markets in the Northeast and West Coast of the united States. Rare. Our highest recommendation.
